The Commons Kernel Lab is an independent research group advancing participatory governance models on open technologies.
After a decade working with communities struggling to build scalable collaborative structures outside of platform capitalism, we are taking action.
We foresee the emergence of an Internet-like sustainable society. Our vision is populated by networks of communities blending human and non-human agents locally.
Our goal is to help communities achieve long-term resilience by sustaining self-hosted shared infrastructure. We believe in the power of Digital Commons.
We aim to contribute to areas such as data sovereignty, alternative organisation models, local federated AI, and fair and trustworthy business models for open collaboration.
